GEORGE & MARTHA'S WEDDING

This past weekend was a special event for our family. George got married to a wonderful woman named Martha. They got married at the Springville Art Museum. It was a very nice ceremony, almost like a church service. Bob spoke a few words about George and the example that George had set for Bob throughout the year's it was nice to hear. It was also so nice to see George's daughters all together.

Crazy School Jog-A-Thon Today

Oh, the craziness of today's Jog-A-Thon was too much.. The students had a blast all decked out in Martell Colony matching t-shirts. I don't know how much money we made but the students clearly had a good time.

Stephanie's Fight

Too young to have died of skin cancer, is the only thing that comes to mind when I think of how fast this whole thing came down this last week or so.

This is one of a few pictures that I took at the Kaiser hospice room that Stephanie was in on Saturday night September 4. This was taken a few short hours before she died. She had asked for some "Smart Water" and there is a cute little story about that. At this point all Stephanie wanted was her mommy!

August becomes September

Always the first major sign of fall, is the delivery of the semi-truck full of Joe Lastufka's alfalfa from Colusa. Pete Demas delivered the load and squeezed it off the truck and drove it down the driveway up onto the landing. Nicolas and Logan came up the very next weekend and covered the load with tarps. Those agile young men had it covered in no time at all. Also a thank you to my brother-in-law Karl for helping out with this project. Isabelle, Karl, Sean and baby Kaden also were in town. Here is a picture of Sean and Justin-Bobby. Isabelle is fending off my Sadikins as my Sadikins is trying to lick little Kadens fingers.

For Isabelle's Birthday we all went to Leatherby's Ice Cream parlor and had yummy ice cream. Here is a picture of Karl's Black and Tan which looked AWESOME!

My Sunflowers

I planted some sunflower seeds at the ranch because I wanted to enjoy the summer beauty of the tall stalks and big flowers at the top. So here is a picture of them.

THE FUNERAL

Today was Gladys's Funeral.

Of course I put up the pictures in the wrong order. I believe is was a tribute befitting of Gladys and the good works that she did during her life.

The service was about a half hour long with a couple of songs. Twenty six people came to her funeral. Did I mention that the funeral home had the thermostat sat at 69 degrees, my kinda place. The temperature was 104 degrees of hot.

Gladys Obituary

This obituary was in todays Sacramento Bee, and the Roseville Press Tribune, also will be in the Auburn Journal tomorrow and also the Sac Bee tomorrow. Monday is the funeral at 10:00am. I took this picture of Gladys sitting on her couch with her dog Midnight sitting next to her. It is a good picture of her and it shows her before she went downhill with the Diabetes. Isabelle you would be pround of me, I actually used the scanner on my printer, fax, scanner machine. Then I went over to JCPenney's to get her a nice outfit to wear. I was good to make sure it didn't clash with the pink interior of the casket. I wanted to put her in a nice dress, but because of her leg amputation, I settled on a very feminine pant suit in grey with a burgandy blouse. The clothes in her closest didn't look good enough for her last outfit. Then after Donna approved them I had to run them over to the funeral home. I am working on getting a large picture of her to display at the funeral. Gladys didn't want an open casket or a viewing. I guess the next best thing is a huge picture of her sitting on an easle next to the casket. But do you go with newer pictures or older pictures that is the question? I think a better tribute would be a collection of her blankets, but I don't know how that would go down with the people at the funeral home. Kinda cute though don't you think!

CHERRIES Yummy Cherries!

Last Saturday Nick, Logan, Donna and Myself went over to Jim & Fran Murphy's house to pick Bing Cherries off his tree. The boys picked 16 good sized containers of cherries. The cherries are just right not too soft and not too hard. Donna and I are canning them up today in small pint sized containers. Should be a total of 10 pints and 2 half pints! Winter tidbits, and some fresh cherries to eat. We also will give back half to the Murphy's as a "thank you" for the cherries!

Gladys Doctor Visit Today

Gladys had to go to the doctor's office today because her wound from last month's surgery has not healed correctly. Normally, I don't handle human or bovine open wounds without getting light headed and feeling like I am about to faint, but today I did very well. I was surprised to see at least a two inch long opening whereby I could see her lower leg bone and all kinds of tissue that shouldn't been seen by anyone. I took a picture but I shouldn't post it becuz it is gross. They settled on wound care instead of surgery. Gladys was wiped out but not in pain. Notice that she is buckled down to the stretcher? Yes, she was medically transported from Mission Carmichael to Kaiser Roseville.

My Sadiekins

Everybody says that if you have a border collie you need to give them a job. Well guess what Sadie will be doing with her new back pack? Hauling something around while we go for walks. I bought her this cute dog back pack today at Petsmart. She is a very smart girl and she is very interested in her new back pack.

Creating a Dinosaur...

This is Sean planning his create a dinosaur project...

SEWING PROJECT

I am in Los Angeles and I went to Downtown LA to purchase some fabric to make myself some shirts. This is the first shirt that I made, and it is not finished yet as you can see from the collar area. But it does give you a small amount of pleasure being able to sew something together. Did I mention that this fabric was only $1.50 per yard? Isn't that a great price for a shirt?

Gladys Update

Gladys was taken in to Kaiser hospital last Sunday because of her Diabetes. Her toes on her left foot turned black and needed to be treated. The doctor performed an amputation about half way down passed her knee! She has been having a hard time recovering with all the pain and the loss of her mobility. When you go to see her in the hospital she is usually asleep. Donna allowed me to snap this picture when I was there today. She has been at the hospital for a week, and the next stop is a convalescent home.

You Know Your Stressed When...

I went to the bathroom at work yesterday, and in my hussle to get my business done, and be out of the way for the next teacher, I didn't notice that I left the bathroom with tp hanging out from my pants. I was mortified when a male colleague of mine had to help me notice my problem!

This is a true story, that made me feel totally embarrassed.

I hope whomever reads this gets a good laugh..

By the way, the Carriage Drive house is up for sale they are asking for $159,900.

COWS are being born in this crazy wet weather!

I helped pull out this brown and white calf a week and a half ago, I was so happy to see him getting along just fine.
